Onduri Lodge (Birthplace of the Giraffe)

10.0

Our stay at Onduri Lodge was amazing. The photos on the website do not do the place justice. The individual cottages rest high on a ridge overlooking their 30K acre farm, most of which is reserved for wild game which in include Giraffe, Wildebeast, Springbok, Eland, Oryx and more. Some of which you can see right from the balcony on the lodge or your cottage with a pair of binoculars. We enjoyed fabulous family-style meals each day with farm-to-table ingredients. Be sure to book a game drive on their property to get a close-up look on their abundant wildlife and they will also book a safari for you at Etosha National Park. If you never been to Namibia and plan on driving, you will need to book a 4x4 as most roads are not paved, including the road leading to the lodge. The host and staff are super friendly and helpful. They do offer same-day laundry service and will pack breakfast and lunch for you on request which is helpful when going on safari as restuarant options are very limited in the region.

A peaceful stay

10.0

A lovely, peaceful place to stay. Corné was very attentive, and we enjoyed talking to him about Namibia. Wildlife came close to our lodge. Meals were very tasty and wholesome. We opted for a barbecue on the hilltop at sundown. It was beautifully set up for our evening, and we had good food and conversation with Corné and Cindy. We felt very well looked after.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr abgelegen und die Häuschen entsprechen nicht dem heutigen Standard!

Posto incredibile, struttura bellissima, Monique all’accoglienza una persona fantastica. Provate il bbq sotto le stelle, noi lo abbiamo fatto con l’intero staff che gestisce il Lodge….una esperienza fantastica

Wow…this was by far the best place we’ve stayed in Namibia. The owners were very friendly and sat down and chatted with us for hours over a bonfire in the evening (they mentioned they offer this for all their guests). They have only a small tourist portion of their business (just 7 rooms); the rest is a working farm. It was absolutely fascinating to hear about how they live on and manage their farm. My husband and I felt like we got to know how real Namibians live, rather than just having a tourist experience at an impersonal large resort. Also, the food was unbelievably good and fresh! They actually hunted the eland that they cooked us for dinner, and they grew the vegetables they served us. The view from the room was also gorgeous; we loved watching the pink and blue sunset colors from our balcony. The rooms are up on a hill so you get a great view of the surrounding area. Overall this stay has been one of my favorite Namibia experiences. Seriously cannot recommend this place highly enough! One note: the Google maps directions aren’t accurate, so be sure to look for the Onduri signs once you get close.
