− Stairs, and during our stay it was so hard to get our luggage to our room there was no available to help us. We have to walk from parking lot to our room.

8.0La Paloma has improved so much since my last visit in June of 2021! The common thread among all the visits was with iffy service and lapses in communication some of that is still present but it's MUCH better than it was . The last visit's biggest issue was with food service. While there were hiccups this most current visit, none of which I've encountered here before, the staff here did try to work with what they had and they righted most every wrong. First encounter with service this trip was with valet. All in all, I was least impressed by this service. I pulled up around 2pm. The valet line at the porte cochere was piling-up. I had never seen this resort so busy. The parking was such an unmitigated disaster as the hotel was packed to capacity, so I opted to use the $35 valet service. That was until they left my vehicle unattended for at least 1.5 hours, unlocked, with the keys in the cupholder... this happened at check-in. I informed the desk what happened, and that this service was just going to be a headache for me and that I would not be using it after all. They understood and stopped any charges. Front desk continued to be great, as well as everyone from dining outlets, room service, and the pro shop. My room was cleaned and restocked daily, with the only gripe being that I requested nightly turndown service, which the guest services agent said they had and would provide, but never happened. The newly renovated common areas are colorful, beautiful, and full of lightl!! The lobby building now has plenty of comfortable sitting areas. In 2021, sitting areas were sparse, and the furniture that was there was worn and shabby. In the outdoor common areas, they were going around patching-up and painting chips and gouges in the stucco, replacing sun-rotted and/or water-damaged beams, and replacing missing or damaged roof tiles. It's nice to see lots of TLC being given. My room was the usual very nice La Paloma room, with nice, big bathroom. The renovation, or more appropriately, facelift was tasteful, albeit negligible. Why am I calling it a facelift? Only carpet, seating, mattresses, lamps, window drapes, TVs, and finishing on the wall that the bed is on were updated. The bathroom, tiled entryway, furnishings, artwork, and all are wall coverings are unchanged. Bathroom was spotless, and It's nice to see a choice of both tub and shower. Faucets are starting to show their age, though--mainly with the finish. Toilets were terrible and due for replacement. The rest of the room was also spotless. I really like the plush, nicely cushioned, new carpeting; the carpet that was there before had no padding underneath, and was scratchy and terrible. I didn't think that Westin could out-do themselves with bed comfort, but they did! The new mattresses are supremely comfortable. The new TVs are among the biggest I've seen in a hotel, which I loved, but the updated TV system has one of the skimpiest most basic channel lineups I've ever seen in a hotel. The most puzzling? No HBO or Showtime. Yes, they offer first-run PPV movies and Pluto TV or Netflix streaming, but unless you already have a subscription to those services, of which I don't and refuse to, there's no option for commercial-free movies. I also wish I could view my bill on the TV, but there was no option. Furnishings are workable, but are inching closer to being ready for replacement--finish is getting rough, it's getting harder to keep dresser drawers closed, and the little slide-out tray on the nightstand to the left of the bed in my room (216) was starting to fall apart. The furniture dates back to when I was a freshman in high school... I'll be 30 next year. Air conditioning was sufficient enough at night when the temps would drop, but could not keep-up during the day, and when you'd feel the air coming directly out of the vents, it was easy to see why. Perhaps a good recharge could be in order? Overall, the room was great, and with some further refinements, could be near perfect. La Paloma was knocking it out of the park with the food! The lobby bar, La Luz, Contigo and La Vista coffee shop complete with gelato bar (open 'til 6pm even during the slow months) were phenomenal. There has never been this many dining options on premises, and this is before you consider in-room dining. Just a pro-tip: don't order room service on the Marriott Bonvoy app!!! It comes back more expensive, and adds some odd fees that don't show up when you order over the phone. Phone ordering just automatically does tip, which the servers deserve. Saul, who I swear has worked there forever as he's brought my meals most every time I've stayed, is a class act, and I enjoy his bubbly personality. Pools were fantastic as always, but overrun with young families, and their misbehaved and unsupervised children. They have adults-only areas and a pool with a bar, but their commotion can still be heard. My advice? Come here during school season, or go to the pool a few hours before they close. This isn't a problem solely with this resort, but with all that have elaborate pool areas. Overall? Lookin' good, La Paloma! You just need new furniture in the rooms and a more refined valet parking setup!!!

− Game room for the kids was awful. Set up for outside events was disappointing..poorly done for such a nice resort. No sleeper sofa or sofa in room. Room was ok..nothing special...but ants in bathroom. Nothing special for price. Fireworks were on opposite side of resort. Needed binoculars for where we were told to go Won't be back.
