Book the right room and you’ll have a pleasant experience

6.0

I was so worried about staying here based on previous reviews, we paid £100 more than the premier inn down the road for two nights because this hotel had a sea view balcony, it was definitely worth it if you value the sea view and being within easy walking distance to the centre of Newquay. The deluxe double sea view balcony room (14) is quite small but it’s clean and well maintained. Other reviewers said the balcony chairs needed painting, it was dirty and there were no toiletries in the bathroom, check in was awful and there was no restaurant . This wasn’t the case for us, staff were very welcoming, checked us into our room and took our suitcases upstairs and ensured we could use the door code. The balcony chairs were newly painted, soap and shower gel provided and the room was clean and equipped with tea and coffee facilities. Cleaners were present in the morning around the hot. There is a restaurant for breakfast and parking is reservable for a £10 per day charge if you call the hotel prior to arrival. We arrived back from a night out at midnight to find reception staff still present which made the hotel feel safe. The hotel decor is very quirky but the sea view makes up for it. Areas that could be improved… A small fridge in the room Replaced mattresses (not unbearable but not premier inn standard) A deep clean of the stairs carpet (light grey carpet in a hotel will show up the dirt)

Worst hotel

2.0

The room was dirty. The carpet had stains all over it. When I first arrived all you could smell at the reception was bo. The first picture is the bathroom tap. It was one of the worst hotel I’ve had the misfortune to stay in We wasn’t told you have to book a parking space. We paid £300 for two nights. We only stayed one because it was that bad. The room was so small it wasn’t big enough for two people to stay there.

Avoid…

2.0

I am extremely disappointed with my recent five-night stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, it fell far below the standard that was advertised and certainly did not provide value for the money I paid. From the moment we arrived, the experience was poor. I asked about disabled parking and was met with a very abrupt response that I could not park there unless I was staying at the hotel. We were, in fact, booked to stay for five nights, and the manner in which this was handled was unwelcoming and insensitive, particularly given that I had made my disability known. Before arriving, I emailed the hotel requesting a room with a bathtub and also asked if it would be possible to upgrade to a balcony room, making it clear that I was happy to pay any additional cost. Neither email received a response. The room itself was extremely disappointing. The pillows were of very poor quality, and the mattress left us with bites and caused five nights of extreme discomfort, making it very difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The duvet and bedding were also of an extremely poor quality and were uncomfortable to use. There was no shampoo or conditioner provided in the room, and the carpet was filthy and clearly in need of a deep clean. Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stay. Our room was not serviced every day, and when it wasn’t, there was no replenishment of basic refreshments such as tea, coffee, or milk. For two female guests staying for five nights, providing only two clothes hangers was completely inadequate. On one occasion, we were unable to gain access to our room and needed assistance from reception. When we went to ask for help, we found the receptionist asleep in the office. This was both unprofessional and frustrating, particularly as we were locked out of our room and required immediate assistance. I was also advised before my stay that gradual payments would be accepted, but this was not honoured. Even after I raised the issue immediately, nothing was done to resolve it, which added unnecessary stress to our stay. Overall, I feel completely let down by the lack of customer service, poor communication, and the low standard of the accommodation. I have already raised these concerns with the hotel and believe that the quality of our stay warrants appropriate compensation. Sadly, I will not be returning to this hotel, nor would I recommend it to friends, family, or my followers on social media. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, addresses these issues, and offers appropriate compensation for what was an extremely disappointing stay. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in… dirty, unsanitary, uncomfortable, not suitable for disabled, not good value for money, just awful!

Misleading Photos, Dirty Room and No Response to Complaints

2.0

⭐☆☆☆☆ 1/5 Very disappointing stay and even more disappointing customer service afterwards. I booked a Standard Double Room through OYO for a stay during May half term to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Before booking, I telephoned the hotel to confirm a room for three people, I was offered a standard double and told that an additional mattress could be provided. I was assured this would not be a problem. When we arrived, we were told that no additional mattress could be provided and would not fit in the room. As a result, my child ended up sleeping on the floor using bedding taken from my bed leaving us with no duvet or pillows. The room itself looked nothing like the photographs used to advertise the Standard Double Room. The advertised images show a bright, spacious, modern room with space around the bed and seating. The room we received was extremely small, with the bed pushed against the wall, very limited floor space and no seating area. The room was horrendously hot, with no air conditioning despite this being listed as a facility. The window only opened a few inches and faced directly into neighbouring rooms, meaning the curtains had to remain closed for privacy all time. We spent much of our stay away from the hotel simply because the room was so unpleasant to be in. There were also numerous cleanliness and maintenance issues. The bedding and mattress were filthy on arrival, the headboard was not properly attached, some lighting was not working and the only toiletries provided were a nearly empty bottle of shower gel despite toiletries being listed as included. They replaced the mattress as it was covered in stains and hundreds of hairs.  I raised these issues immediately with reception on arrival and also submitted a complaint through OYO's support system during the stay, including photographic evidence. I asked to be moved to a room that resembled the room booked, or even pay to upgrade to a suitable room, however I was told there were non available for me to move to despite adverts still showing for rooms on both their OYO app and booking.com website. A complaint reference was issued, but neither OYO nor the hotel contacted me to discuss or resolve the complaint. The hotel was in a good location but in very poor condition with rubbish, smashed windows and shabby condition. The place was empty with, a single desk clerk who was dealing with another group who were refusing their rooms and demanding a refund due to the conditions and size.  An upgraded room was eventually offered at 9:30pm on the final night of our stay, only hours before checkout, which was simply too late to be a meaningful solution, hours before our morning checkout particularly with children preparing for bed and them still being unable to offer a third bed or mattress. Most disappointing of all has been the complete lack of response since our stay. Multiple emails have been ignored, the hotel says only OYO can deal with complaints, and OYO has failed to respond despite repeated attempts to contact them. Ive  tried to use the app but get rejected by a bot saying there is no refund pending. OYO doesn't have a customer service number in the UK and says online that we need to email or call India!  I understand that budget hotels will not be luxurious, but guests should receive the room and facilities that are advertised, and complaints raised during a stay should be dealt with properly. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

Awful experience

2.0

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Can’t believe love holidays still have it on their website. Rooms are dirty, mouldy, no restaurant or bar. Carpet was soaking wet. When we complained we were told it was fully booked to find out later it was not. Locals said it had become very run down in past few months due to change of ownership. We were to stay 3 nights but left after 1 and booked into premier inn down the road due to the hotel conditions and the horrendous noise. First time I have ever complained about a hotel

Clean, safe, friendly welcoming staff

10.0

Felt incredibly safe and looked after, went out till the early hours of the morning with friends and was welcomed in by night staff who were professional and chivalrous. Room was clean and bed was so comfy, great shower with good pressure and a fully stocked tea station to nurse the hangover the following morning. As a young lady staying on my own I had a lot of people trying to scare me with rumours about this hotel but my experience was lovely and I will definitely stay again and recommend it to my friends.
