Review
2.0My stay at this hotel was disappointing mainly because of the staff’s attitude. Whenever we raised a concern or asked a question, they became rude and aggressive instead of being helpful. Our experience started badly at check-in. There was a mandatory £26 fee to be paid at the property. I realized I had forgotten my physical card and politely asked to pay using Apple Pay instead. The lady at reception reacted with obvious annoyance, making dismissive hand gestures and facial expressions, which was very unprofessional. Later, when we raised other concerns, we were simply told, “If you don’t like it, leave the hotel and find another one,” even though we had booked online and paid in full in advance. I travel frequently and have stayed in many hotels where the staff are always polite and helpful. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. The hotel itself has a nice vintage charm, and the room was comfortable. However, it lacked basic amenities such as an iron, refrigerator, toothpaste, and a comb. Overall, the poor customer service overshadowed the positive aspects of the stay, and I would not recommend this hotel.
Tired hotel in great location
6.0Hotel is in great location. Our room had a great balcony we could sit in for cocktails. We expected an inner city rustic hotel which is what we got. The room had no coffee maker or fridge and basic toiletries. We asked for black tea and creamer but were told they didn’t have it. No cups to drink from. Just glasses! Ice was available in lobby in plastic bags. We could not get English channels on TV and reception said they couldn’t help! Reception lady seemed burnt out. The reception area was unwelcoming and bar and breakfast area were tired. No love anywhere. No extras. Just basics. Ok for a stay in beautiful city but wouldn’t recommend for the price we paid. Great restaurants close by however. Literally just outside door of hotel.
Do NOT make a reservation DIRECT with hotel.
2.0When I received the confirmation for the reservation the dates were incorrect. I emailed days later for a reservation that was FIVE months away, and they would not make the correction. They did offer to make a new duplicate reservation to accept a new payment. This is my first experience where a change in service is considered a "cancellation". Is this how it's done in Spain or just this hotel?
Faded Charm in Good Location
8.0First be aware the street is mainly a pedestrian one; although delivery vechcles did enter our Uber could not even find it, and let us out nearby. Lady at reception not very friendly; after flying all ninght told us to come back at 3:00 for check-in. Building was 100 years old and entrance had some nice features, but rooms were functional but merely functional. Ours faced the street but was mainly quirt at night which was nice. Not great value for a 3 star but not too bad considering the location.
A dissapointing stay from an outdated hotel
4.0This has the potential to be an excellent hotel but it really needs closing down and modernising. It is located in a perfect location, just off La Rambla and 2 minutes walk to Catalunya Metro. I expect 3 things from a hotel, a Modern clean room, a good wifi and an in room safe but sadly i didn't get 2 of those. Firstly a modern clean room. The room had one single socket outlet in the room, how on earth was i supposed to charge phones, use my laptop or even boil the mini kettle? Yes there was a mini kettle in the room with some sachets of Tea & coffee but sadly, nowhere to plug it in. I could have carried it over to the one single socket by the bedside i guess but surely a room should have much more than one single socket. The floor tiles were cracked in a number of places and my wife cut her toe on one of them one morning. there was a dried blood spot on one of the quilts (not from my wife's toe) which we noticed early on in the room. The doors were chipped and looked in well need of repair and weren't self closing like most other hotel rooms, they need urgently replacing. Secondly, the wifi. It is probably the worst wifi i have ever encountered. Logging on was difficult and when you did get on it kicked you off every 30 seconds or so and you had to go through the process of trying to log on again. It was also incredibly slow and i gave up after 2 days. There was a safe in the room which was fine and it would have been nice to have a mini fridge but there wasn't one but that was no big issue. Luckily for us breakfast was included in our room rate, although we probably paid for it but at almost 17 Euros per person per day that was very expensive for what was on offer. Overall it was a really dissapointing stay but this hotel really has the potential to be excellent, it really does just need the rooms to be modernised and the room facilities to be greatly improved.
Heart of Barcelona
10.0A great location. Clean rooms. Spacious rooms. Good amenities. Just off La Rambla. Helpful staff. Decent breakfast. Full value for money
