− I had already paid for my one-night stay through Booking.com. When I arrived, I was asked to pay the local tourist tax, which is completely normal and I had no problem paying it. However, the receptionist refused to accept cash and insisted that the tax could only be paid by bank card. I offered to pay the exact amount in cash, but he simply refused. The tax was only €7, while my total booking was around €50. What shocked me the most was his attitude. Instead of trying to help, he told me that if I could not pay by card, I should “go and find another place to sleep.” I had just arrived, I was exhausted after my journey, and I only wanted to check in. I even suggested a simple solution: that he could pay the €7 with his card and I would immediately reimburse him in cash. He refused and said, “It’s not my problem, it’s your problem. You have to find a solution yourself.” When I asked to speak with the manager, he replied that he was the manager and that he was simply following the hostel’s rules. Fortunately, another kind guest offered to pay the €7 with her card, and I reimbursed her in cash. Without her kindness, I would have been left without accommodation despite having already paid for my room. The issue is not the tourist tax or the payment policy itself, but the complete lack of customer service, empathy, and willingness to help. I have never experienced such poor treatment at a hostel before.

No functioning AC in the room

Good location, big common area with kitchen and terrace

− The AC is not working at this heat and humidity and full room with people and no one could sleep. Everyone was trying to sit in the common area where there was AC to cool down. I made a joke to the receptionist that it is better to sleep there and the response was very cold saying it is not allowed to sleep there.

I’m sure it would be nicer if the air conditioning hadn’t been broken.

Location is great! The living area is open and the kitchen is great.

− Only USB ports at the beds. Why no PowerPoints or USBC? Bathroom had mould. Major issue was no air conditioning in one of the rooms and I couldn’t sleep at all - so much so when I moved rooms I became dizzy. I was able to move after my first night, but I don’t know why this was even able to be booked in the first place when it was known the air conditioning was broken? You must stop taking bookings in that instance. Because of the lack of sleep after I arrived at 3am, I am now sick with cold sores as I’m so run down. Don’t open up bookings for rooms when the air conditioning does not work - it’s unsafe.
