10.0I really love the atmosphere and the guesthouse surroundings. I have a good sleep while staying there. I also love on how the guesthouse owner, Saki-san, spent time to have the conversation with us during the dinner time. The breakfast was waffle and it was good!! I would recommend this place to any traveler that wants to stay in countryside of Japan. I am glad that I did it😍
Cute guesthouse offering waffle breakfasts surrounded by rice fields near Akiyoshidai.
9.0My fiancé and I were able to get a room all to ourselves; the place was surrounded by rice fields and quiet. Also, waffle breakfasts!
− Our room was right above the lobby/cafe, so if some guests were still awake and chatting, we could hear it. Nothing a little noise machine couldn’t fix.

A pretty mediocre experience due to guests and space.
1.0It was clean, and the host was pleasant.
− Overcrowded and overbooked, drunk and loud guests, expensive for what it was. One toilet for 8 male strangers, one shower. I’ve stayed in farmhouse-style accommodation in Japan before, and this is among the worst. If there were less people, I’m sure it could be quite pleasant.
Absolutely charming guesthouse and owner
9.0This is a great place for a basic and peaceful stay surrounded by nature. The scenery is lovely and it's a good location to see Yamaguchi as it's very central. The owner Saki is an absolute angel who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even helped us out by accompanying us to the police station to report a minor traffic accident (a legal requirement in Japan). Our whole experience at Himawari Guesthouse was so charming and memorable, I would definitely recommend it or stay there again!
− Foreigners who are not familiar with sleeping Japanese style with futons and relatively hard pillows should be aware that it takes a bit of getting used to. It feels like you are getting an authentic experience though! The walls are also very thin so you have to be quiet, but everyone was respectful while we were there.
