Whiskey on the River

Cabin 9.... more like Cabin Nah

We liked the interior layout of the cabin and my kids liked it.

− We recently stayed at Whisky on the River (Cabin 9) and, unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the listing or our expectations. The cabin itself was not clean upon arrival. There was dirt, bugs, and hair all over the floors, CHEWED GUM stuck to the coffee table, sticky tables and countertops, and the kids' beds had visible dirt in them when we pulled back the sheets. The blankets and comforters throughout the cabin were stained. There was also no games or puzzles for the kids as advertised. The kitchen was poorly stocked for basic cleaning. There was only about half a bottle of dish soap, along with used sponges and scrub brushes, so we had to purchase our own supplies just to wash dishes. The bathroom also contained empty, previously used shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles. Several items were in disrepair, including broken dining chairs. The mini-split units also didn't work properly. We kept the thermostat set at 72°, yet woke up on our last morning to a cabin temperature of only 58°. The shower was another frustration, with the water fluctuating between ice cold and scalding hot, making it difficult to shower comfortably. The biggest disappointment was the location of Cabin 9 itself. Unlike some of the other cabins (such as 4-7), Cabin 9 has essentially no river view. The listing also gives the impression of a sandy riverfront easily accessible, so we thought we would be spending spme time on the river during our stay. But the only beach access was on the other side of the campground and a hike through mosquito swarns, only to discover the beach was muddy and covered in rocks. The sandy area requires crossing the river, which was misleading. The porch was nearly unusable because of the overwhelming mosquitoes. If Cabin 9 is going to remain a rental, screening in the porch would make a huge difference. Only way we were able to tolerate being outside was after 2 cans of yard fogger and mosquito spray.

We loved this place. It was one of the best weekend trips we’ve taken. Definitely going back!!

I love the location and the fire pit out on the deck

− The cabin was clean and supplied with things needed I just wish the windows would have been clean a little more

All three times that we have been have been amazing for us!

The tranquility, very peaceful. The cleanliness. My husband and I booked this place for our anniversary in 2025 and have booked twice since making our go to location to visit! We absolutely love it!

− Although we love the place the hens and fouls or whatever they are sitting at the door when you walk out or waiting at the top of the stairs is a little scary for me lol but my husband loves it!
